1997 Four colleagues who had worked for years with
homeless people in Washington, DC established an organization
reflecting their strong desire to provide adult education as a way of
addressing a fundamental problem of low income people: their inability
to obtain and keep a job paying a living wage.
1999 An Adult Education Center opened in the Washington Highlands neighborhood of Far Southeast Washington, DC.
2001 The Opportunity Center in Anacostia opened to offer the External Diploma Program and computer training.

- 4235 4th Street SE
